Paul Albanese

Paul Albanese, Original Course Design Team, Visits

One of July’s highlights was meeting Paul Albanese, a member of the original design team led by the renown Jerry Matthews.

Today, Paul is the principal at Albanese & Lutzke golf course architecture and construction management company. He spent the morning with us,  talked with our golfers, and heard their Hunters Ridge experiences first hand.

Back in the early days, Paul spent 2 years bringing to reality the Meisle’s dream of a links course on their centennial family farm. He shared that Hunters Ridge was one of his favorite projects!

We learned so much from Paul as he bounded out of the golf cart at each hole – often not waiting for the cart to completely stop! His enthusiasm was contagious.

We got to re-live the placement of each bunker and each tree. We explored the risk and reward strategy at each hole.  Hmmm . . . should you take the tough shot versus lay up and play it safe? These insights were invaluable.

What a day it was! Thanks again, Paul.

Party at the Links

Do you need a location for an upcoming event?  Rent the Pavillion or Clubhouse here at The Links at Hunters Ridge!

It’s the perfect location for family reunions, management retreats, bridal or baby showers, birthday parties, anniversary celebrations and more. You’ll love the rustic charm of the Clubhouse surrounded by the natural beauty of the course. The Links at Hunters Ridge provides a great backdrop for photo opportunities and a memorable day.

The Clubhouse is ideal for 50 guests or less and can be setup in a number of different ways. View the 18th hole from the deck and listens to the songs of the birds and other wildlife around the pond. It’s an intimate space yet there’s room to breathe the fresh air.

If you are hosting a bigger crowd, we’ve got you covered there also. Our open-air Pavillion overlooks the front and back nine holes. It is great for a casual BBQ or picnic and can be dressed up for a fancy affair. The Pavillion has plenty of room for a DJ or band and dancing. Catering or food trucks can be arranged to go along with your theme.

We’ll help guide you through the process of catering and planning your event. Contact us for dates and ideas and let’s get started.

In addition, a round of golf out on the Links adds tons of fun with contests and friendly competition. You can check tee times or have us book them for you.

Today is the first day of the 2019 Michigan Challenge Balloon festival in Howell. It runs all weekend and a great place to catch the sight of these mammoth hot air balloons is right from our new deck!

The mass launches are located at Howell High School which is only 8 miles away. They can be seen from miles around! And depending on the way the winds blow – they may head straight for us!

The balloons launch schedule is:

Friday 6:00-8:00PM

Saturday 6:00-8:00AM and 6:00-8:00PM

Sunday 6:00-8:00AM and 6:00-8:00PM

Downtown Howell is where the main festival events take place. To get to The Links at Hunters Ridge you’ll want to take an alternate route.  From the East on I-96 take Latson Road exit to Grand River to Oak Grove Road.  From the West, take the Burkhart exit to M-59 to Oak Grove Road.

Come and enjoy some great golf, great views, and a cold one on the new deck!

Sand Crane

Earlier this month the 13th green was marred by an accidental hydraulic leak from mowing equipment.

The potential impact of this incident was greatly reduced with a little help from the rain and the quick response of our experienced grounds team. We are happy to report that the green is healing nicely.

Golfers tell us they are enjoying a fun and challenging round.

Come check it out.  The sun is finally out in and temperatures are warming up. It’s a great day for golf.

In the meantime, enjoy this great picture of these Sand Crane parents and their baby walking around the hole 13.

High and dry. No standing water here!

The rain has been relentless this Spring but The Links at Hunters Ridge remains high and dry! Designed for superior drainage, water is rapidly diverted to the ponds and streams on the course. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens are firm and carts are at the ready.

Many places are flooded and limit you to cart path only due to standing water. Not The Links at Hunters Ridge. Come golf with us and see!

Sink that putt!

Don’t tell anyone but if you want the golf course all to yourself with almost no one ahead or behind you, check out afternoon tee times Friday, Saturday, and Sunday this weekend.

The weather is finally starting to cooperate. And, because we are high up on the ridge, the course is dry and ready to play.

It's sunny here!

Fun fact for you!

It could be raining 10 miles away in Howell but sunny and dry at The Links at Hunters Ridge!

It’s true. Due to the course’s topography (the hills and valleys, ponds and sand traps, etc.) the weather pattern over the course is different than surrounding communities.

We have our own microclimate. So just remember, even if it is raining by you, there is a great chance it is the perfect day for golf here.

Call us anytime for a weather update.
